Ghost Hunting & Ghost Hunts At Mill Street Barracks, 16th April 2016

Ghost Hunting & Ghost Hunts At Mill Street Barracks, With Simply Ghost Nights, 16th April 2016

This was our second investigation of Mill Street Barracks, St Helens. The Simply Ghost Nights team and guests eagerly assembled in anticipation of the vigils that were to take place during the night ahead.

Built in 1861, the Barracks are steeped in military and they have accommodated many branches of the armed forces over the years. It is also reported to have been used as a morgue during world wars.

Towards the latter half of the 20th century, Mill Street Barracks became infamous as a site of significant paranormal activity. Considering its history as a morgue and its links to the nearby Lowe Street Church and nunnery, and its former caretakers, the Barracks hold a wealth of links with those who have passed over.
As always our night started with a group vigil in the Drill Hall where we proceeded to call out as a huge circle which seems to help our guests relax and get a small insight of what the night is going to entail.
In a vigil With Lesley and Rosey up in the Classrooms one group were calling to spirit asking them to follow the taps, they all heard distinct tunes being copied back to them on a nearby radiator. The group asked for something a bit louder and were quite shocked when a very loud creak on a floorboard was heard from the other side of the room. The group also witnessed flashes of light, shadows, and table tilting in this area.
Upstairs with Jez and Stuart a group of ghost hunters heard heavy footsteps in an adjoining room, on investigation no one was in there and there was no obvious explanation for the heavy sounding footsteps, Jez left a REM pod in the room and returned to the room. After a number of minutes we all heard the footsteps and the REM pod alarmed out, this event happened on a number of occasions.
In the cellars in almost pitch blackness the group called out to a male spirit that we had picked up on and a lot of the group reported feeling very uneasy. We tried a glass experiment which didn't seem to want to know, until the manager suggested we try using a glass that remains in the area just in case a group forgot to bring one down, as soon as the group placed their fingers on the glass it went crazy, to the point it actually smashed!
Martin and Hannah described a vigil in the Main area where  a group of ghost hunters spoke to a female spirit called Anne via the Ouija board, Anne described how she worked at the barracks as a nurse  and had being married and had four children. In this vigil Hannah mentioned that the K2 spiked a number of times after asking Anne to go to the green light on the table as well.
In the cellars with Jez and Stuart, a number of guests mentioned that they had their hair tugged and legs touched, Stuart said that a gentleman spirit called Joshua was in the room and was the culprit. Some of the group witnessed strange lights and shadows and when using the Franks box a number of the group heard their names repeated but when they asked what's your name 'Joshua' was clearly heard from the Franks Box.
Once again the spirits of Mill Street barracks had not let our ghost hunters down with communicating with us. We return on the 2nd July 2016. Tickets can be booked by clicking on the link.
